Just as we aim to bring the outside in when decorating for summer, the same applies in winter. Foliage – whether real or faux – instantly brightens the greyest of days. ‘I love dressing door frames with a garland, it gives such a welcoming touch. To keep a garland secure, I find using small, clear hooks or discreet pins works well. A little garden wire helps to hold everything neatly in place,’ says Sophie Allport, founder of the eponymous homeware and lifestyle brand. ‘For added charm, tie in dried orange segments and bows.’ Why not weave in fairy lights, too? Battery-powered designs mean no need for plug sockets or trailing wires.
