Where the Pros Go

Isabel Ladd, interior designer

Lexington may be known as the horse capital of the world, but it's also a gold mine for antiques, says designer Isabel Ladd. "All those sprawling thoroughbred horse farms come with their own sprawling estates-and estate sales," says Ladd, who recommends checking the calender of Blue Moon Estate Sales (bluemoonestatesales.com) for up-to-date listings. In a treasure-hunting mood? "Lexington's also dotted with vivid retro and thrift stores, which are my personal favorites to rummage through," Ladd says. Scout (scoutlexington.com) tops her list for antiques and midcentury modern furnishings; Room Service (roomserviceinc.com) is the place to unearth affordable trinkets, vintage tableware, and furniture ready to be rehabbed. For room upon room of design ideas, Ladd recommends a stop at Camel Club (camel.club). "Set in a historic pink mansion, it's a private social club and coworking space, but anyone can set up a tour," she says. "Design-lovers will go ga-ga for it." Cap off the day with a cocktail at Ladd's favorite rooftop bar, the 1960s Florida-inspired Lost Palm (lostpalmky.com).
