Despite its busy location in Copenhagen, the light-filled apartment interior design consultant Sedsel Roug calls home still conveys a deep sense of calm from the moment you enter

When Sedsel Roug bought her apartment in 2013, she was initially attracted by the balance between city living and serenity. 'I'd spent many years based in New York, Brussels and England, and I was still hungering for urban life when I moved back to Denmark,' she explains. 'But I also wanted my home to feel like an oasis. This place had everything I was looking for - high ceilings and period character, a communal garden at the back and shops and cafes just across the street." Set on the ground floor of a purpose-built 1863 residential building in the Frederiksberg district, the property had previously been occupied by an elderly lady and was in need of a full renovation.
