THE CDSCO has requested the agencies regulating imports to permit the entry of drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics consignments to the country only via the ports notified under the D&C Rules, 1945.

The move is in order to keep vigil on the imports of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics through the borders, and restrict any illegal imports of these products to the Indian market.

The CDSCO, in a letter to the Additional Director of National Customs Targeting Centre (Cargo), the office which coordinates risk analysis, assessment and targeting of risky cargo entering into the country through various modes, said, "...

Rule 43-A of the Drugs Rules, 1945 is a regulatory provision that specifies the entry points (notified ports) through which drugs can be legally imported to India.
