Profile of an Artist: Cindy Dalton

Art has always played a central role in Cindy Dalton's life.

She grew up in a creative family that nurtured her love for the arts from an early age. Over the years, she has explored a wide variety of media, including oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, as well as ceramic sculpture and sewing.

Cindy began her formal art education at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where she studied art and also worked as a professional interpreter for the deaf in the classrooms. Her lifelong dream of becoming an art teacher became a reality after she spent several years at home raising her children. Once they reached school age she began her teaching career, spending 20 years as a high school art teacher, followed by another five years teaching elementary school art.

Now retired, Cindy continues to pursue her passion through painting and working in her pottery studio. More recently, she has developed a love for en plein air painting—creating art outdoors and capturing the beauty of natural landscapes.
