FROM STORIES TO SPOTLIGHT BANINDERJIT'S JOURNEY

With an 18-year journey that spans over 32 Punjabi films, multiple awards, and a passion for stage, Baninderjit Singh is a force in the world of theatre and acting. From humble college beginnings to becoming a celebrated promoter of theatre in Chandigarh, his story is one of grit, growth, and inspiration.

What inspired your journey into theatre and acting?

My inspiration arose from youth festivals. During graduation, I wanted to participate in Bhangra but didn’t make the college team. While watching rehearsals, I also saw theatre plays, skits, mimes, mimicry, and histrionics—and I was instantly drawn in. The next year, I participated in a skit during my final year at Govt College, Sec-11, Chandigarh. My character was appreciated by the audience, teachers, and friends, which gave me immense motivation. I later joined Khalsa College, Sec-26, for PGDCA and participated in youth festivals, winning the Best Actor Award in 2007. Since then, it's been 18 years. I've acted in 32 Punjabi films, 2 Hindi films, performed in over 50 plays, and directed more than 35.
