ON THE STYLE RADAR

'The Countdown' by S&N is a collection that challenges fashion norms. Marking 'T a groundbreaking move into the world of bags. S&N by Shantanu Nikhil incorporates their signature with a monogrammed palette of bold black and vibrant orange, symbolising a burst of energy. This collection not only revolutionises clothing but also signifies the brand's debut in bags, uniquely blending the art of drape with the richness of leather. As they embark on the journey of creating a new vertical for their label by introducing this new accessory, we speak to designers Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra for an insight into the collection and the process behind creating it.

GRAZIA: How does this new line of handbags as a new extension tie into your design DNA?

SHANTNU AND NIKHIL: As a fashion house, our approach and our endeavours with leather have always been highly nuanced. While we've been crafting leather accessories for quite some time, our latest venture has led us into the realm of women's handbags. When a customer enters our store, they aren't merely considering a skirt or a corset; they envision an ensemble. A truly stylish outfit is complemented by a well-balanced bag. We aspire for the discerning individual to associate us with fashion solutions during their style emergencies, providing them with a memorable and satisfying experience.

G: Functionality or uniqueness, what comes first for you when it comes to designing a bag?
