The studio is quiet. No chaos, no entourage, no unnecessary small talk. Vir Das arrives, poses, delivers, and sits down for the interview-quick, efficient, precise. But beneath the well-worn rhythm of a man who has done this a thousand times before, something unexpected emerges. The jokes come fast, but so does the insight. He barely pauses before answering.

"I'm like vada pav," he says. "You don't want people to f*ck with your vada pav." He leans forward deftly unwrapping the metaphor. "I've got the bread, the chutney, the spicy powder, the potato patty. That's it. That's what I bring to the table, every time."
