PM inaugurates Mega Common Facility Centre at SEEPZ

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated (virtually) the commencement of the Bharat Ratnam Mega Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) in Mumbai’s SEEPZ Special Economic Zone, reiterating the Government’s support to the gem and jewellery sector. CFC is a flagship initiative promoted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India, and the SEEPZ SEZ authority to drive exports.

This project aims at creating a world-class infrastructure for promoting the inherent skills of the gems and jewellery manufacturing industry, and providing a supportive and collaborative environment for entrepreneurs, MSMEs and small businesses to grow and thrive. Bharat Ratnam CFC will house cutting-edge equipment, including a 3D Metal printer. It will also provide training for artisans, including specially-abled students. It is set to transform the export of the gems and jewellery, and will also help domestic manufacturing.
