ALICE TAI and DAME SARAH STOREY on reporting on the events in Milano Cortina
There's a packed programme of sport at the Winter Paralympic Games in Italy this week, as the wheelchair curling continues while the para alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice hockey and snowboarding disciplines get under way.
C4's coverage of the action in Milano Cortina is being led by wheelchair basketball Paralympian Ade Adepitan, former rugby union player Ed Jackson and racing driver turned broadcaster Billy Monger, with new recruits Dame Sarah Storey and Alice Tai - both highly decorated Paralympians - joining the team as reporters.
Among the Team GB medal hopes are visually-impaired alpine skiers Menna Fitzpatrick and Neil Simpson, who each won two medals at Beijing 2022 and are looking to add to their haul. Here, Sarah, 48, and Alice, 27, reveal what they're looking forward to most...
WINTER PARALYMPICS is previewed on pages 36-37, 56-57, 66-67 and 86-87
ALICE TAIPara swimmer Alice was born with bilateral talipes, also known as club foot, and in 2022 had her right leg amputated below the knee. A multiple Paralympic, World, European and Commonwealth medallist, she won golds in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, plus 400m freestyle silver and two bronze medals.
What will you be doing in Italy, Alice?
I'm a reporter, so I'll be going around to different venues. To get to the C4 studio, we have to go up the mountain in a gondola [a bubble-shaped cable car]. What better way is there to start the day?!
Indeed! As a swimmer, how are you feeling about going to a Winter Games?
