JOANNE FROGGATT on a starry gangster epic

- IAN MACEWAN

Married to THE MOB

MOBLAND

NEW FROM SUN 30 MAR, PARAMOUNT+ DRAMA (RELEASED WEEKLY)

As head housemaid Anna Bates in hit period drama Downton Abbey, Joanne Froggatt was married to John Bates (played by Brendan Coyle), a trusted employee of the patriarch of a wealthy dynasty.

Now, in film-maker Guy Ritchie’s glossy new gangster story MobLand, the awardwinning actor is playing the wife of a loyal ‘fixer’, Harry Da Souza (Peaky Blinders star Tom Hardy), who works for well-heeled country gent Conrad Harrigan (former 007 Pierce Brosnan) and his wife Maeve (1923’s Dame Helen Mirren).

But while Conrad likes to relax with a spot of fishing at his impressive rural residence, having a family connection to this unpredictable London-based Irish mob boss is considerably more eventful – and dangerous – than life below stairs at the Crawleys’ ancestral home!

Launching on Paramount+ this week, the 10-part series, also featuring Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon), Lara Pulver (Sherlock) and Mandeep Dhillon (After Life) as members of the extended Harrigan clan, follows the fallout when two powerful crime families go to war.
