Magical mystery TOUR

DESTINATION X NEW WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, 9PM, BBC1 REALITY

Pack your suitcases and embark on a journey into the unknown with BBC1's new globetrotting competition, Destination X. With Would I Lie to You? host Rob Brydon acting as tour guide, the 10-part adventure sees 13 contestants set off on a trip around Europe, but there's a twist: they're travelling aboard a bus with blacked-out windows and must unravel a collection of cryptic clues to work out where they're going. Along the way, the hopefuls will take part in tasks in which they can earn extra hints about their location - and with £100,000 up for grabs for the eventual winner, that information could prove very valuable in their quest to avoid elimination. Beware, though, as red herrings are everywhere! TV Times caught up with Rob, 60, to find out more...

Why did helming this show appeal to you, Rob?

I loved the combination of having to work out clues as to where you are and having to get on with each other. It struck me as the best bits of [BBC1's game of treachery] The Traitors with the best bits of [BBC1 travel competition] Race Across the World.

I was also attracted by the scale of Destination X. Being part of a show as ambitious as this, with such a huge team, was exciting. I knew it would be a real challenge to see if I could steer that ship.

So, how does the format work?
