DEEP trouble

COLDWATER

NEW SUNDAY & MONDAY, 9PM, ITV1 DRAMA (BOX SET, ITVX)

After more than a decade starring in the hit US zombie drama The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln makes his long-awaited return to British television in ITV1's six-part thriller Coldwater.

He plays John, a stay-at-home dad who suffers a crisis after failing to intervene in a violent altercation at a children's playground. Desperate to get away, he convinces his wife Fiona (The Capture's Indira Varma) to relocate their young family from London to the idyllic fictional town of Coldwater in rural Scotland, but the move quickly turns into the stuff of nightmares.

John is immediately befriended by his charming neighbour, Tommy (Trainspotting's Ewen Bremner), and his wife Rebecca (The Guest's Eve Myles), who's the local vicar. At first John is impressed by his new pal, but after Tommy helps John out following a disturbing encounter with a local youth, it's not long before the newcomer realises he's put himself in the debt of a dangerously manipulative man with some horrifying secrets.

Here, Andrew, who turns 52 on 14 September, tells TV Times about the joys of filming back in the UK and taking on a very different role...
