UNFROSTED
NEW FROM FRIDAY 3 MAY, NETFLIX COMEDY
They never really caught on in Britain, but across the Atlantic, the launch of the Pop-Tart almost 60 years ago was the biggest thing to happen to breakfast in America since, well, sliced bread!
The story behind the invention of the wildly popular rectangular pastries, which were designed to be heated up in a toaster, is retold in Netflix’s comedy Unfrosted, co-written, directed by and starring Jerry Seinfeld.
The first-time film director, best known for the 1989–1998 US sitcom Seinfeld, says bringing the project to the screen has been quite an experience.
‘It’s something I thought I’d never do,’ admits Jerry, who turns 70 on 29 April. ‘It’s about how they invented the Pop-Tart, and 15 stand-up comics are in this!’
