The notorious Mitford siblings make their mark on 1930s Britain in a new period drama

Sisters of SCANDAL

Outrageous
Thursday, 9pm, U&Drama (box set, U)

In 1930s Britain, the Mitford sisters were often in the headlines for their artistic endeavours and romantic attachments, but their embrace of political extremes made them famous for very different reasons.

U&Drama's new six-part period drama Outrageous, created by Sarah Williams and based on Mary S. Lovell's biography The Mitford Girls, follows siblings Nancy, Pamela, Diana, Unity, Jessica and Deborah as they attempt to find a place for themselves in a changing world, but drive their family irrevocably apart in the process.

The series begins in 1931 as the sisters visit Diana (Joanna Vanderham) in the lavish country house she shares with husband Bryan Guinness (Miss Austen's Calam Lynch), but novelist Nancy (Bessie Carter) suspects her younger sibling is not happy.
