The school gates are getting ready to close for Sex Education's angst-ridden, hormonally challenged teenagers in the fourth and final run of Netflix's awardwinning comedy drama.

'It's bittersweet - it's been such a huge part of our lives, so saying goodbye to these characters is sad, says Asa Butterfield, 26, who plays lovelorn teenage sex therapist Otis.

'But it's the right time to move on. I'm just glad that so many people have found something in these characters' lives that really resonates with them. We're lucky.

As the season begins, change is afoot following the closure of Moordale Secondary, and several of the gang are starting the term at Cavendish Sixth Form College, a progressive school where gossiping is outlawed and inclusion, kindness and equality are the watchwords. But will the mixed-up Moordale alumni fit in?

Our kids are all of a sudden little fish in a big pond. We're watching them going into this new environment and feeling out of their depth,' reveals the show's creator Laurie Nunn.

At Moordale, they always thought they were ahead of the times, but now, they're floundering. Cavendish is all about being compassionate and helping your community, and students are free to express their identities. But maybe all is not as perfect as it seems...
