There are more bizarre murders in the sleepy but deadly New Zealand town of Brokenwood when Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea) and his crime-solving partner, Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland), return for a ninth series of The Brokenwood Mysteries.

The town’s alarmingly high murder rate, the macabre and baffling crimes plus a lengthy list of suspects has led to the show being called New Zealand’s Midsomer Murders and the plot of the first episode of the new six-part series is in keeping with the spirit of the UK crime drama.
