Princess Kate's Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham marked a poignant turning point. Last year's stroll had been her final public appearance before she announced her diagnosis of an undisclosed form of cancer in March. Months of private treatment followed, with the Princess of Wales, 42, making only a few appearances before announcing in September that she had completed chemotherapy.

Walking alongside Prince William, 42, and their three children-Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6-this year was a reminder of the resilience that defines not only Kate but the monarchy itself.
