THE CAST OF THE SECRET LIVES OF MORMON WIVES DISHES ON ALL THE DRAMA TO COME IN THE NEW SEASON OF THEIR HIT REALITY SHOW AND THE FUTURE OF #MOMTOK

- By BRIANNE TRACY

Mormon Wives Back in Action!

In 2022 Utah-based Mormon influencer Taylor Frankie Paul shocked her millions of TikTok followers when she told them she was getting a divorce from her husband, Tate, after “soft swinging” with other couples who are fellow Mormons. Taylor said she'd violated the group’s rules and fallen in love with one of the husbands, and the friendships subsequently blew up.

Reality stardom emerged from the ashes: In 2024 the first season of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives dropped and became an instant hit as it delved into the swinging-scandal drama and the changing dynamics of Taylor’s group of #MomTok influencer friends, including Whitney Leavitt, Jen Affleck, Demi Engemann, Mikayla Matthews, Jessi Ngatikaura, Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor. “It was a break from [motherhood],” Taylor says of her early social media presence. “I never saw it being this.” Season 2 of the show, premiering May 15, picks up exactly where the first season left off—and, somehow, the drama reaches new heights. Here the ladies share a few secrets of season 2, where their relationships stand now and whether #MomTok can actually survive it all.

A new castmate who was involved in Taylor’s swinging scandal joins the fray. In season 2 Miranda McWhorter, one of the original #MomTok influencers, tries to make her way back into the group. Miranda and Taylor had a falling-out after Taylor revealed publicly that Miranda and her now ex-husband Chase were involved in the swinging scandal and that Chase said he had feelings for Taylor. While Miranda initially denied any involvement, she and Taylor were able to hash things out on-camera. “I think a lot of Taylor’s frustrations were with me not being totally authentic and truthful,” says Miranda. “I was just like, ‘Well, everyone wasn’t hooking up with everyone,’ and I just left it at that. I get why that would feel unfair to her. I think there was a lot of fear, guilt and shame that played a role in that for me.”
