THE MATRIX ACTRESS REFLECT ON HER QUIET LIFE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, PARENTING AND STEPPING INTO THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE
Carrie-Anne Moss doesn’t view age the way many people do. Last August, when the actress, 56, and her family celebrated her birthday, they rang in the wrong age. “My daughter had to look it up for me. I thought I was a year older,” she admits. “I honestly forget how old I am all the time. I don’t think about age. I feel like everyone’s sort of my age, then they’re 35, or they’re 75. I look at it more from the perspective of how vital and healthy can I be?”
Pretty vital and healthy, it turns out, as Moss pushed herself through rigorous training repeatedly to reach peak physical condition for demanding roles, including her latest, Disney+’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte. For an action-packed scene with costar Amandla Stenberg, she spent five days a week for three weeks with trainers learning “Force Fu,” a form of Jedi martial arts. “I was a Scottish dancer and figure skater, so I had that in my muscle memory, but I had to work hard at this,” she admits.
