Demi Lovato has always kept it real. The singersongwriter (who uses she/ they pronouns) became a star at the age of 10 with her role on Barney & Friends, and by 30, she had recorded eight albums, performed around the world and served as a judge on The X-Factor, all while speaking candidly about her mental health and addiction struggles. And now Lovato, 31, is opening up about her beauty routine, with her announcement as the new spokesperson for the anti-wrinkle injection Xeomin. Here the star talks about feeling confident in her appearance, navigating negativity on social media and planning a wedding following her recent engagement to Canadian musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes.

Why did the partnership with Xeomin feel like the right fit?

I’ve always believed in making choices that are empowering, [keep you] true to yourself and help you look and feel your best. I’ve incorporated Xeomin into my routine every three months, and it gives me the results I want while still looking like myself. There are times I like to get glam and times when I don’t like to wear makeup at all, and this gives me the confidence for both.
