The thyroid gland, located in the neck, is responsible for producing thyroid hormones. Thyroid swellings, commonly known as goiters, indicate an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. This swelling can be visible from a distance and may involve the entire gland or develop into one or more lumps called thyroid nodules. Most thyroid nodules are benign, but some can be malignant. Goiters are more common in females and typically affect individuals aged thirty to fifty years.

TYPES OF GOITER:

1. Diffuse Goiter: The entire thyroid gland is enlarged

2. Nodular Goiter: One or more lumps (nodules) are present in the thyroid

3 Multinodular Goiter: Multiple nodules in the thyroid

4. Solitary Thyroid Nodule: A single nodule within the gland
