Apple's AirPods Pro 2 hearing health features were US-only at launch, but now they're rolling out more widely in countries including the UK. And that means you can get a professional-grade hearing test from the comfort of your sofa. All you need is a quiet space, a pair of AirPods Pro 2, and about five minutes of uninterrupted time.

The test is simple but it's worth knowing that you may well spend what feels like ages in silence. Don't worry: that's part of the test. Some of the tones will be completely inaudible to many people, especially if you're middle-aged or older; don't worry, we actually start to lose some high-frequency hearing from around our mid-20s.

AirPods Pro 2 don't just test your hearing. They can help it too. Hearing Assistance and Media Assist have finally been approved in the UK and so now you can use them to help you hear things more clearly.

HOW TO Check your ears with AirPods Pro 2

1 Take the test

When first using your AirPods after the update, you'll get a pop-up asking if you want to take a hearing test. You can also launch it from Settings > AirPods Pro when they're in your ears. Hearing aid features will appear here when available.
