Can this projector bring gaming to the biggest screens?
> £799 > FROM philips.co.uk > FEATURES DLP (Digital Light Processing) tech, Full HD (1920x1080) resolution, image size up to 150in, 1500:1 contrast ratio, up to 2,500 lumens brightness, 1.49:1 throw ratio, 2x HDMI, 1x USB, 1x RS232 port, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1x 5W speaker, manual focus adjustment and keystone correction, up to 30,000hrs' lamp life, Google TV, 8ms input lag at 120Hz
While gamers are spoiled for choice when it comes to high-end monitors designed specifically for gaming, there's considerably less available when it comes to projectors. Philips' GamePix 800 Smart Gaming Projector does a great job of filling the gap, but it can't replace a pro-level gaming screen.
It's not solely for gaming though. The GamePix 800 also has builtin Google TV, giving you access to apps such as Apple TV+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+, Spotify and more. If it hasn't got the app you need, you can cast it from your iPhone or other Apple device using the inbuilt Chromecast feature. For connectivity, it has two HDMI ports to connect almost any modern console or computer, or for watching movies and shows, a DVD/Blu-ray player, Amazon Fire Stick or other such media streaming platform. There's also a USB port and an RS232 interface.
Setting up is easy enough. For shelf or table mounting, the device has three adjustable knobs at the bottom, so it's pretty straightforward to get the picture level whatever the setting. There are also three M4 ceiling mount screw holes, so you can turn it upside down and mount it on the ceiling if you wish, but no allowance for a regular stand.
