Commander Alert-O

The real name of class seven student the “rule book” was Arvind. But he followed rules so strictly that everyone nicknamed him “Commander Alert Singh.”

If anyone left their shoelaces untied in the morning assembly line, he would stop them and ask them to tie them.

If someone kept their mouth open while the counting was going on, Alert-O would frown.

If the fan was on in class while the weather outside was cool, he would go and switch it off. “Saving electricity is important!” was his favourite phrase.

Some children liked him, while some called him “Torture Master.” But Alert-O did not care. He simply believed, “What is right is right.”

One day, the school announced, “There will be a picnic at a historical garden near the lake.” All the children’s eyes lit up with excitement, but Alert-O’s eyes filled with worry. He immediately took out a notebook and started writing:

• What time they would leave?

• What everyone should wear?

• What items must be carried in the bag?

• Who would bring the first aid kit?

His list covered three pages.
