A dermal therapist shares how to spring clean our skincare routines

Much-longed for warmth, flowers in bloom, brighter days and a freshness in the air - yes, this can only mean one thing: spring is officially here.

While the change of season brings with it visible shifts to the world around us, it's also important to note how these celestial rhythms have a flow-on effect on our skin. From rising heat and humidity levels to elevated allergies, breakouts and everything in between, spring can trigger a variety of skincare challenges.

With that in mind, we hit up dermal therapist and founder of Iyvos skincare Gabrielle Singh to unpack the key ways in which spring can impact our skin and how we should be adapting our routines for the warmer weather.

MOISTURE MAKEOVER

It’s no secret that winter takes a toll on our skin - bringing on a tightness, flakiness and itchiness thanks to the colder temperature and recycled indoor heating.

“When winter fades, most of us are left with skin that feels tight, dry and a bit flat,” Singh says. “That's from months of cold air and heaters stripping away moisture.”
