THE QUEEN OF THE KITCHEN IS PROMISING TO BE THE SECRET INGREDIENT FOR MKR’S REBOOT
Chat with kitchen queen Nigella Lawson and it’s pretty apparent that her life revolves around food. She loves talking about it, thinking about it, eating it and perhaps most importantly, sharing it. And while that might not be too surprising, given she’s one of the most celebrated and famous home cooks, the way it informs every aspect of her life is. You may think you’re getting cooking tips, but you’re actually getting Lawson’s lessons in life.
“What’s true in the kitchen is true outside the kitchen,” she explains to WHO over Zoom from her home in London.“They are life lessons. That’s what cooking for me is about.”
As the new judge on MKR (the show formerly known as My Kitchen Rules), Lawson has been sharing her wisdom with contestants around the country in the search for the best Australian home cook. But it’s not just a one-way street. The 62-year-old says she continues to learn and believes the best place to do that is around the dining table.
“I think I learnt something from all around the table,” says Lawson, who has published 13 cookbooks and sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
“I suppose it’s really about learning that you just carry on learning. We all make mistakes and you don’t have to stop making mistakes – that’s an important part of learning.
