Get ready to embrace the new year and feel fabulous
The start of a new year is the perfect time to step into a brighter, more energised you, especially when long, sun-soaked days make it easier to get outdoors and get moving. Still, January's push for big change can be daunting. That's why easing in with small, manageable steps matters. To guide you, WHO has pulled together a 30-day plan to help spark your inner glow and lay the foundations for a healthier, happier 2026.
DAY 1 SET THE ALARM
There are a string of benefits to getting out of bed first thing, including better sleep for postmenopausal women who also exercise in the morning, according to one report by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Free up valuable hours by setting your alarm and starting 2026 as you mean to go on.
DAY 2 STAY HYDRATED
Experts say we should be aiming to drink between two and three litres of water a day for optimum brain and digestion function. Hydration also supports skin health and helps prevent headaches, so making sure you're having enough is a must. Treat yourself to a vibrant reusable water bottle so you're encouraged to take those sips.
DAY 3 START A STEP COUNT
Something as simple as a 10 to 15-minute walk can do wonders for your mood and stress levels. While experts have long spruiked the concept of 10,000 steps a day, a 2025 study by the University of Sydney found 7000 was a "good target" because it's associated with a big range of health benefits. Every little bit helps.
DAY 4 DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE
Taking time to sort through old possessions and sort them into piles for the op shop and the rubbish can feel like a real chore - but it's a task that will leave you feeling fresh and more energised.
DAY 5 NOURISH YOUR SKIN
