HGTV'S MIKE & EGYPT Rules of the House

|March 24, 2025
Still flirting after a decade and a half as husband and wife, the stars of Married to Real Estate tell Us why their relationship needs no renovations. Could it be the separate bedrooms?
Among HGTV’s pantheon of power (and power tool) couples, you’ll find fan favorites Mike Jackson and Egypt Sherrod of Married to Real Estate. He’s the expert builder and, as fans know, a more mellow foil to his exuberant wife, who acts as designer and broker. Based in Atlanta, the #relationshipgoals duo are working a new round of renovation miracles in season 4 (Wednesdays, 8 P.M.) and having fun in the process — even if they do bicker over how to fold a fitted sheet. Here, Sherrod, 48, and Jackson, 47, tell Us their informal rules for a successful marriage.
1 Try to clock out
Easier said than done. “When you work together, especially for what we do, it’s almost 24/7,” Jackson concedes. “We have to remind ourselves to turn it off before we get in the house, so we can focus on having a good meal or dealing with the kids.” (The couple are parents to daughters Kendall, 13, and Harper, 6, and Jackson is dad to Simone, 23, from a previous relationship.) At the very least, he adds, the goal is to “leave the laptop out of the bed.”

MARIO LOPEZ Bouncing Back
Mario Lopez has been working out most of his life, but at the age of 52, it's starting to catch up to him. “I've been getting injured consistently the last few years,” the Access Hollywood host tells Us. Although Lopez likes to play golf, he admittedly gravitates toward “very physical, explosive sports” like jujitsu and boxing, which Dr. John Layke of the Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group says “destroyed many of his joints” over time. Ultimately, the Saved by the Bell alum was forced to undergo multiple operations to repair his shoulders and bicep tendons, leaving him with limited mobility. Now, the dad of three turned to Proactive Longevity for therapeutic plasma exchange and stem cell therapy. “These treatments will allow me to strengthen my joints and continue doing what I love,” Lopez shares, “so I'm very excited about it.” He tells Us more.
