A few days before the Oscars on March 10, Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company that makes weight-loss drugs intended to treat obesity and diabetes, released an ad clearly aimed at celebrities who use prescription drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro purely for cosmetic reasons. “Some people have been using medicine never meant for them for the smaller dress or tux, for a big night, for vanity,” the narrator says, noting that the drugs (some of which have experienced national shortages) are designed for people who really need them. “People whose health is affected by obesity are the reason we work on these medications. It matters who gets them.”
Across Hollywood, celebrities are slimming down in record numbers. Stars like Christina Aguilera, Scott Disick and Sharon and Kelly Osbourne are just a few who have stepped out recently looking thinner than ever. While Sharon has admitted to using Ozempic and her daughter Kelly has been open about her gastric sleeve surgery, Christina and Scott have yet to reveal how they’ve drastically transformed their bodies. When it comes to the rich and famous, it’s clear they are willing to do whatever it takes to get skinny.
