Four-star Army Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla — known as The Gorilla — is the legendary chief of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees all military operations throughout a 21-country area in the Middle East, including Iran.

The hard-as-nails former Army Ranger Commander, who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has a reputation of getting whatever support he needs from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. He’s been credited for deploying the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz from the South China Sea to rendezvous with another carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, in the Middle East as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to boil.
