Fans who fell in love with Jude Law’s boyish charm and cheeky grin in classics like The Holiday, The Talented Mr. Ripley and the remake of Alfie will do a double take at his latest incarnation. The blue-eyed British heartthrob is the latest in a long line of actors to take on the “larger-than-life” role of Henry VIII. Starring opposite Oscar winner Alicia Vikander in Firebrand – the story of the king’s last wife, Catherine Parr – Jude portrays the infamous monarch with empathy, allowing us to see him as “both formidable and vulnerable.”

And while he hasn’t been married six times (or beheaded any wives), Jude, 51, is no stranger to serial relationships. The London-born actor – who has seven kids with four different women – is a proud dad to Rafferty, 27, Iris, 23, and Rudy, 21, with his first wife, Sadie Frost; Sophia, 13, with ex-girlfriend Samantha Burke; Ada, 9, with former partner Catherine Harding; and two children with his wife of five years, behavioural psychologist Phillipa Coan, 37.

Choosing to keep his relationship out of the spotlight this time around, Jude has said it’s “refreshing” to be with a partner who’s not in show business. “I don’t have Twitter or an Instagram or anything,” he told the Telegraph, “because I value that little bit [of privacy] that I’ve got left.”
