A TEARFUL REUNION

Prince William can't contain his emotions as he comforts a mother who turned tragedy into hope

The Prince of Wales was moved to tears when he was reunited with a widow who lost her baby son and husband within five days of each other.

Showing the empathy that his late mother, Princess Diana, was also famous for, Prince William became emotional as Rhian Mannings recounted how her husband, Paul, took his own life after their one-year-old son, George, died of pneumonia.

In a candid video released on World Mental Health Day, the royal dad of three looked visibly upset as Rhian, 48, told him that she wished Paul had been able to open up to her and could have reassured him their family would recover.

"I would just like to sit him down like this and say, 'Why didn't you come to me?' Because he's missed out on so much joy. And I think that's what the hardest thing is - we would have been OK," she said.

As William's eyes brimmed with tears and he struggled to keep his composure, she asked him, "Are you OK?"
