Cynthia Erivo wins the fashion plaudits as the Tony Awards celebrate US theatre's top names

There were plenty of fashion highlights at the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last weekend, but Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, who hosted the event, topped the best-dressed lists everywhere, wearing a show-stopping ten outfits on the night.

One of the most resplendent entries in her sartorial portfolio was a Schiaparelli outfit in pink with a diamond-covered corset top and a sleek textured skirt.

But it was not only her ensembles that won praise. Cynthia, who will soon step out on the press tour for Wicked: For Good, also delighted fans with her opening number, Sometimes All You Need Is a Song.

It is nine years since the star, 38, accepted her first Tony award, for her role as Celie in The Color Purple, in 2016. “It’s a bit of a full-circle moment,” she said. “It’s quite lovely.”
