Cat ate Blanchett is synonymous with cinema. With two Academy Awards, four Baftas and four Golden Globes to her name, the Australian actress is clearly at the top of her game.

And although she may be known for serious roles - including her parts in Blue Jasmine and The Aviator, both of which landed her an Oscar, and 2022 awards-season favourite Tár- she isn't afraid to tackle parts that involve action, silliness and good old-fashioned fun.

Her latest film is Borderlands, a sci-fi action comedy based on the video-game franchise of the same name that has all of that in abundance.

"The game has so much to marvel at. I don't think I could ever really be classed as a gamer, but I understand what a big deal it is," Cate says.

"It's this wonderful mix of spaghetti western and weird sci-fi, which billions of people play every day. It's a fascinating world."

The actress plays Lilith, a flame-haired, nononsense bounty hunter with "mummy issues", who is tasked with returning the missing daughter of a corporate magnate and unlocking a mysterious vault in which the secrets of a lost civilisation’s advanced technology are kept.
