AS A FORTNIGHT OF SPORTING DRAMA COMES TO A CLOSE THE OLYMPIC GAMES THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES, SNOOP DOGG AND TOM CRUISE BID A FOND FAREWELL TO PARIS 2024

Celebrating two weeks of human drama and sporting prowess, a dazzling closing ceremony brought down the curtain on the 2024 Olympic Games in a memorable spectacle at the heart of Paris.

From decorated competitors to film star Tom Cruise, the Stade de France certainly hosted an event to remember.

And even before the show began, the Prince and Princess of Wales sprinkled their own stardust over the Games, taking time off from their summer break to share a special video featuring some famous friends.

Standing by her husband's side looking happy and relaxed, Kate, who has been keeping out of the spotlight while undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, began: "From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB."

Prince William, looking tanned and off duty, sporting some rarely seen facial hair, added: "Well done on all you've achieved - you've been an inspiration to us all." The video, compiled and shared by Kensington Palace, featured congratulatory messages to Team GB from notable names including David Beckham, Clare Balding, Colin Jackson and Dame Kelly Holmes.

DOGGED DETERMINATION

It also starred the unofficial mascot of the Games, rapper Snoop Dogg, who wrapped up the video by saying: "Thank you, Great Britain, on behalf of big Snoop Dogg, the Prince and his lovely wife." The King also expressed his admiration, praising the athletes' "raw talent, true grit and hard toil" in an official message.

He added: "My wife joins me in sending our warmest congratulations to the competitors and their support teams from Team GB and across the whole Commonwealth.
