Karan Boolani was an assistant on Aisha (2010) when he first met Rhea Kapoor. They soon started dating together and got hitched in 2021. It was a long courtship and friendship that led to this decision. He started life as an ad man and has worked on more than 500 ad films. His first directorial venture was the series 24 (2016), where he worked closely with his future father-in-law, Anil Kapoor, who was the protagonist of the series. Karan was in the news recently for making a female-centric film, Thank You For Coming (2023), which talked about female sexuality, among other things, and had Anil Kapoor playing a raunchy professor. Karan talks about pushing the envelope with every outing and the importance of family in a candid interview. Excerpts:
