Browser-first work exposes endpoint security gaps

Enterprise work no longer happens primarily on the device.

It happens inside the browser—across SaaS applications, collaboration platforms, dashboards, developer tools, and increasingly, AI-powered workflows. As organisations accelerate cloud adoption, the browser has effectively become the new workplace.

In India, public cloud adoption is growing at 24.3% annually, according to IDC. Yet beneath this transformation lies a widening security gap. Many organisations still treat the browser as basic infrastructure rather than a critical security control point. That assumption is becoming increasingly costly.

Employees now spend most of their working hours inside browser-based applications. While the workplace has evolved rapidly, security architecture has not kept pace. Many organisations continue to believe that securing the endpoint is sufficient to secure the business.

That logic made sense when applications and data resided on managed devices. Today, however, work, data, and user interactions are increasingly browser-centric. The result is a structural security gap that organisations can no longer afford to ignore.

DETECTION LIMITS IN MODERN SECURITY

When facing an expanding threat landscape, the natural response is to double down on detection, enabling better threat intelligence, faster incident response, and more advanced monitoring. These capabilities remain essential.

However, detection-based security has a fundamental limitation: it assumes the threat has already entered the environment where it can act. Attackers have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to bypass this model.
