Sutradhar – Art Walk: Where Art Meets Sustainability
Textile Value Chain
|September 2025
The Textile Sourcing Meet 2025, held at the Intercontinental Jaipur, witnessed an inspiring confluence of creativity, sustainability, and innovation. Among the highlights of the two-day event was Sutradhar — an ArtWalk curated by Dashmeet Singh, Founder & Creative Director of The Art Floor.

The initiative, presented in collaboration with GEAR and Sowtex, turned discarded threads and yarns from textile mills into powerful pieces of contemporary art. More than an exhibition, Sutradhar was a thought-provoking reminder of the industry's responsibility towards environmental sustainability.
In an exclusive interview with Textile Value Chain, Dashmeet shared his vision, inspiration, and future plans for this groundbreaking initiative.
The Inspiration Behind Sutradhar
When asked about the roots of the project, Dashmeet revealed that it began with a simple yet profound observation.
"Walking through mills, I saw mountains of waste yarns and threads. To me, they weren't waste — they were stories waiting to be told. Sutradhar means both 'the one who holds threads' and 'the storyteller.' These artworks hold together the fragile narrative of our Earth."
By transforming discarded materials into art, Dashmeet sought to redefine how the industry perceives surplus. Each artwork became a narrative, weaving resilience, beauty, and renewal into its very fabric.
Linking Art and Sustainability in TextilesThe textile sector is one of India's largest industries, but it is also a major generator of waste. Sutradhar serves as a mirror to the industry's sustainability journey.
