India's growing prowess in manufacturing
There has been sustained impetus from the Government to expand and push the sector ahead, also evident from the recent interim budget allocations towards Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes covering automobile, pharma, food processing, toys, footwear, and leather sectors. Noteworthy investments have been directed towards semiconductor and display manufacturing, with a budgetary allocation of Rs 6,903 crores in FY'25.
When it comes to digital, across global forums, India stands at the heart of all conversations, for setting global benchmarks for scalability, inclusivity, and tech for good. Eyes are on India to also power and democratise the AI revolution. Within the manufacturing sector, this presents a great opportunity for India to power efficiencies and growth, build competitiveness and long-term resilience, and address the challenges of labour shortage, supply chain disruptions, and carbon emissions. The sector has the potential to be reimagined using technologies such as cloud and edge computing, 5G, analytics, automation, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence.
