In an interview, Jitendra Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer, Triton Logistics & Maritime, shared the company's vision to be a sustainable partner, delivering insightful solutions to its customers.
With Covid and geopolitical tensions disrupting trade, how is the industry adapting to these constant challenges?
The logistics industry today faces multiple disruptions and challenges. One of the biggest is a severe manpower shortage-nearly 70-75% of global organisations are struggling to find skilled workers. There is also a widening gap between demand and supply, with load factors around 62-65%, indicating limited capacity to meet rising needs. Process delays and contiued manual operations add to the strain.
While air freight is growing at a CAGR of about 5.8%, capacity hasn't kept pace, leading to bottlenecks and delays. On top of this, the industry must tackle issues like automation, skill development, and the growing pressure to adopt sustainable, green logistics - all of which require significant investment with long-term returns.
To overcome these challenges, the sector needs a mindset shift - moving towards more strategic, cross-sectoral, and structured approaches. Despite the hurdles, the future of logistics looks promising. The industry is evolving rapidly, and though it's no longer what it once was, it is steadily transforming into something far more dynamic and forward-looking
With projects like NMIA and airport planned at Vadhavan, how do you see India’s infrastructure growth driving air freight expansion?
