OPENNESS WITHOUT Chaos

In the Hetero Drugs corporate office in Hyderabad, Architecture Dialogue establishes a structured take on transparency, meticulously balancing the need for fluid collaboration with spatial clarity
-
For all the emphasis on openness in today's workplaces, most offices in India still rely on hierarchy disguised as design.
Glass replaces walls, but power structures remain intact, and collaboration is often more performative than real. It is within this context that the Hetero Drugs corporate office presents a quieter, more considered argument. Designed by Architecture Dialogue, the project does not attempt to dramatise transparency. Instead, it builds it into the everyday logic of space planning, materiality and movement. Located in the Hi-Tech district of Hyderabad, the 8,000 sqm workplace unfolds across two floors of an existing building, offering a measured response to how a global pharmaceutical company envisions collaboration, focus and growth within a single, cohesive environment.
Planning for openness without losing structure
At the heart of the project lies a careful balance between openness and organisational clarity. While many contemporary offices lean heavily towards open plans, often at the cost of privacy and focus, this workplace adopts a more nuanced approach. Departments are clearly defined, yet not rigidly enclosed, allowing teams to function with a sense of identity while remaining visually and spatially connected to the larger environment.
