APEROL SPRITZ

Visitors and soldiers from other parts of the empire were said to have found Italian wines too strong and so lightened them with a spritz of water which became known as an Aperol Spritz. In 1919, Luigi and Silvio Barbieri created Padua's famous Aperol and as this bitter apéritif rose to fame, so did experimentation.
