Kioxia Begins Mass Production of World's First UFS 4.0 QLC Devices
Bisinfotech
|December 2024
Using 4-bit-per-cell, quadruple-level cell (QLC) technology, Kioxia Corporation has announced the beginning of mass manufacturing of the first Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 Ver.4.0 embedded flash memory devices in the world.
-

Since QLC UFS has a higher bit density than conventional TLC UFS, it can be used with mobile applications that require larger storage capabilities. QLC technology is able to accomplish this without sacrificing performance thanks to developments in error correction and controller technology. Using the full performance of the UFS 4.0 interface, Kioxia's new 512GB QLC UFS offers sequential read speeds of up to 4,200 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3,200 MB/s.
