Grid Resilience Is India's New Currency

As COP30 approaches Belem, Brazil, it is evident that the summit will be judged not by speeches but by delivery. The first global stocktake, concluded at COP28 in 2023, revealed the world's failure to stay on course with the Paris Agreement. Since then, COP30 planning documents and statements from Brazil's presidency team have emphasised implementation, credible climate finance, and resilience. These themes will determine whether the summit can restore trust in global climate action.

For India, the focus converges on one foundation—its unified electric grid. Generating renewable energy is not enough; the real test lies in its reliable and equitable delivery across the nation. In a world where sovereignty is increasingly tied to infrastructure, the grid is emerging as a new currency of power.
