Armed with deep category expertise and a sharp product thesis, Lumio eyes challenging the status quo of sluggish smart TVs
THE Indian smart TV market, known for its fierce competition, witnesses a significant new entrant today. Lumio, a home entertainment brand conceived by seasoned industry professionals, including key architects of Xiaomi’s remarkable success in the Indian TV segment, has officially announced its arrival.
Armed with a clear strategic focus and two distinct 4K Google TV product lines launching from the outset – manufactured locally under the “Make in India” initiative – Lumio is directly addressing a pervasive consumer pain point: the ‘slow TV epidemic,’ aiming to disrupt the market equilibrium with its “ACT I Speed” product philosophy.
Driving this ambitious venture are Circuit House co-founders Raghu Reddy (CEO), a respected name from his tenure leading Xiaomi’s TV business, and Kailash Sankaranarayanan (COO), whose diverse experience spans high-profile roles at Flipkart and HUL, complemented by deep-seated expertise in electronics. They are joined by Head of Product Sudeep Sahu, another crucial figure from Xiaomi’s TV journey.
The leadership believes the current market, often characterised by a ‘sea of sameness,’ overlooks the critical post-purchase experience of performance degradation - a gap Lumio intends to capitalise on.
