Dana India is pursuing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a standout manner. While there is commonality led by broad transitions in the automotive sphere, the company has set itself a clear road map. At a time of broad-based convergence by the industry as a whole, building sustainable technology is a key focus area at the global tier 1 supplier of mobile drivetrain and motion solutions. Averred Gajanan Gandhe, Country Head and Vice President for Dana India, the traditional areas of focus on sustainability like the use of renewable power among other critical areas from a vehicle standpoint has the company focusing on emission control. "It is primarily driven through our electrification strategy worldwide. We have invested as Dana over half a billion dollars in the last three to four years either through acquisitions or direct investments or through means of organic growth." Dana has established around six manufacturing facilities and backed its strategy with multiple products that are already on the road or are being developed for launch over the next two to three years.
TANGIBLE OUTCOMES
The company with this strategy is claimed to have reduced a significant amount of carbon emissions worldwide. Mentioned Gandhe, "In India for example we have established a facility in Pune which manufactures the large high voltage motors and controllers which are now into every bus running in India." Gandhe cited the exception of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Olectra, known to currently import the motors and controllers barring which others, he said, are using localised products driving the buses in India. From an emission control point of view, Dana boasts of multiple thermal management products witnessing a market launch.
