Nippon N-Shield Surface Protection

Nippon Paint, Asia Pacific's leading coatings company and the fourth-largest paint manufacturer globally, has expanded its presence in the automotive aftermarket segment with the launch of its new Paint Protection Film (PPF) brand, n-SHIELD, in India.

The announcement took place in New Delhi, marking India as the second country to experience the n-SHIELD range, following an earlier introduction in Thailand. “At Nippon Paint, when we decided to enter films, we leveraged our paint experience to develop the best film products. Our films cover all categories in the market, not just the premium,” averred Sharad Malhotra, Director of Nippon Paint India.

The PPF market in India has evolved significantly over the last few years, driven by rising consumer awareness, increased premium vehicle ownership, and a greater focus on maintaining vehicle aesthetics. However, the market remains largely unorganised, with multiple small and mid-scale players offering a wide range of film products with varying quality standards and limited after-sales support. Against this backdrop, Nippon Paint aims to standardise and elevate the category by leveraging its global expertise, technical know-how, and extensive distribution and service networks, as detailing products like PPF contribute a major chunk of revenue in urban metros to begin with.
