PEUGEOT BACKS RETURN OF GTI HOT HATCHES...

A Peugeot hot hatch revival is on the cards, new CEO Alain Favey has revealed. In his first interview since taking over from Linda Jackson earlier this month, Favey said that bringing back the GTi badge was "a question I've been asking myself very much". It has yet to appear on the second-generation 208 supermini, launched in 2019, and has been dormant since the 308 GTi went off sale in 2021.

The Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) sub-brand, effectively a successor to GTi in the Peugeot line-up, was only ever attached to the 508 and 508 SW and was effectively killed off in the UK in December last year after those models were culled.
