Back garden hen keeping has been on the rise in the UK for the past decade with a boom seen during the pandemic and chickens becoming more popular pets than hamsters in 2020! Consequently, hen keeping is no longer just a rural pursuit, with more suburban and urban households enjoying caring for their own little flocks. Typically, these first-time hen owners have smaller gardens making bantams an excellent choice, especially if you fancy your chances at showing your birds too. Here are some top tips to make sure you get the most from your bantam flock.
NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
If you are keeping bantams for egg production a good feeding regime is imperative, so that you are getting the correct amount of good quality protein; vitamins; minerals etc. A lack of certain nutrients can affect egg production, shell quality and even the bird’s health.
